Supreme Court Allows Review Hearing on Rape Case Against Pal Shah

Kathmandu: The Supreme Court has granted permission for a re-hearing of the minor rape case filed against Purna Bikram Shah, commonly known as Pal Shah. A bench consisting of Justices Sushmalata Mathema and Hari Prasad Phunyal issued the permission on December 8.
The Office of the Attorney General had submitted a petition seeking a review of the High Court Pokhara's decision, which had acquitted Shah in the minor rape case. The Supreme Court determined that the evidence was not properly assessed in the High Court's verdict, issued on February 16, 2023, providing a clean chit to Shah.
